Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, marking an end to a career that spanned more than a decade. Saha revealed on social media that the current Ranji Trophy season will be his last. The 40-year-old cricketer represented India in 40 Test matches and nine One-Day Internationals, serving as the primary wicketkeeper in Test matches following MS Dhoni’s retirement. He ranks as one of India’s top wicketkeepers, scoring 1,353 runs in Tests, including three centuries. Saha last appeared in a Test match in 2021, also against New Zealand, contributing important knocks during the series. However, with changes in the team’s leadership under captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid, Saha was gradually replaced by KS Bharat as Rishabh Pant’s backup. Uncertain IPL Future Saha is not expected to participate in the upcoming IPL season as he has not registered for the super auction later this month. Sources indicate that while Saha hasn’t commented officially, he may release a statement regarding his IPL future before the auction. Over his IPL career, Saha has played with teams including Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders, and is among the few players to have appeared in every IPL season since the league’s inception in 2008.
