Why is Gopal Verma's flat still lying vacant?

Horror is a film genre that many people like, but very few have the courage to watch it. In India, the association of horror films and audience has always been a topic of discussion. Every year many films are made in Indian cinema, which are measured on the scale of hit or flop, but in the case of horror, it is a little different. The audience of the Hindi belt complains that in the horror genre, such films are rarely made that can really make one experience fear. However, there have been some films that have lived up to this expectation. One prominent name among these is Ram Gopal Varma's 2003 film 'Bhoot'.

'Bhoot': A new experience

'Bhoot' was a film that completely changed the definition of Indian horror cinema. When the film was released in theatres on 30 May 2003, a warning was shown before the first scene. The warning read, "Pregnant women and people with weak hearts are warned to watch it at their own risk."

This warning was not only because it was a horror film, but also because the way it was made was never done before in Indian cinema. There were neither songs nor glamour in the film. Right from the beginning, the focus was on the story.

Unique location of the film

'Bhoot' was shot in a flat. For this, Ram Gopal Varma initially thought of making the film in a different way, but later he understood that there should be a unique story for horror. When a flat was searched for shooting, about 9 flat owners refused to shoot after knowing about the horror genre.

Finally, the 10th flat owner gave permission. But when the film was released, news came from Delhi that a man's body was found in a cinema hall after the screening of the film. The police investigated and found that the 50-year-old man had no injury marks on his body. However, it could not be proved that his death had any connection with the film. But the news became a great marketing aid for the film and encouraged the audience to watch it.

Film effect and flat loss

Bhoot proved to be a hit film, but the flat owner had to suffer a huge loss due to it. After the shooting of the film, no one could dare to live in that flat. It so happened that even today that flat is lying vacant. The builder told the film team that "You people have ruined me."

'Bhoot' is still considered one of the scariest films of Hindi cinema. This is a film which scares the audience even today when it is seen. Surprisingly, many horror films came after this film, but 'Bhoot' became a milestone in its place and was included in the list of the best films of Hindi cinema. 'Bhoot' was not only a horror film, but it gave a new direction to the horror genre in Indian cinema. This film of Ram Gopal Varma remains a topic of discussion among the audience even today and proves that a true story and excellent filmmaking can make any film a hit.
