With this thought, he came to Mumbai, without taking help from anyone. His aunt raised him, but at the age of 15, he decided to leave everything and go to Mumbai. He had good intentions behind this decision, but he had to face many difficulties in Mumbai. Struggle days in Mumbai After coming to Mumbai, Javed Akhtar had to remain hungry for many days. Sometimes he slept at the railway station, sometimes in the park, and sometimes on the corridors and benches of the studio. He did not have enough money to even pay the bus fare. Many times he travelled from Dadar to Bandra on foot. He told that sometimes he did not get food for two days. At that time he used to think that if ever a biography is written on him, then all these days of struggle will definitely have importance in it. Hunger and human struggle In an interview, when Javed Akhtar was asked about staying hungry, he said that staying hungry for two-three days is a very painful experience. He also said that when a person stays hungry for three days, there is no difference between him and a dog. Hunger makes a person helpless in front of his needs.
