KOLKATA: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) released the results for Madhyamik 2022, the secondary test, on Friday, with around 87 percent of students passing this year. WBBSE President Kalyanmoy Ganguly announced the results here, saying that a total of 9,49,927 students passed this year, bringing the overall pass rate to 86.6 percent. In 2022, boys' pass percentages topped those of girls, reversing a trend that had been the opposite for the previous few years. Mr. Ganguly said, this year's pass rate for boys was 88.59 percent, compared to 85 percent for girls. The number of female students this year was 1,20,000 (11%) higher than the number of male student. The results were announced 79 days after the last day of the examination this year. East Midnapore had the highest pass percentage with 97.63 percent, followed by Kalimpong with 94.71 percent, West Midnapore with 94.62 percent, and Kolkata with 94.36 percent. This year's winners were Arnab Ghorai of Haripur Ramakrishna Mission in Bankura district and Rounak Mondal of CMS School in Burdwan district. Both of them received a score of 693. There were a total of 114 examinees that made the top ten.
