Vice President, wife attend convocation ceremonial of grand-daughter

Noida: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and his wife Usha Naidu attended the audience at their granddaughter's convocation ceremony on Saturday. Immani Sushma Choudhary, their granddaughter, received a degree and an award from Amity University in Noida, according to a Vice President secretariat official.

The vice president and his wife were on stage with their granddaughter as she accepted the award. During his brief remarks to the audience, the vice president expressed his joy at his granddaughter receiving an award and stated that he was there to enjoy the convocation ceremony.

"With the passage of time, we lost our moorings and heritage, and some of us developed a colonial mindset," Vice President said, recalling India's position as a "Vishwaguru" and a knowledge giver in the past. We must return to our roots, draw inspiration from our heritage, and work to build a strong, prosperous, harmonious, and happy India." Immani received the "Shri Baljit Shastri Award for Excellence in Human and Traditional Values."

According to the official, the award is given to students who demonstrate values such as honesty, integrity, respect for others, a caring attitude, and respect for heritage and culture.
