Uttarakhand Schools to reopen from November 2 for Classes X-XII

Amid the uncertainty surrounding the opening of schools across countries, Uttarakhand Government has announced its decision to reopen schools from November 2. The schools in Uttarakhand, would reopen only for students of classes X and XII from the given date. Also, parental consent is mandatory for attendance. As many as 3791 senior secondary schools is expected to reopen in the state from November 2. The Uttarakhand Government has given the consent only for the board going classes. Standard operating procedures and guidelines for resuming the classes as well as basic health and hygiene requirements to be maintained at the schools have been released.

The Uttarakhand Education minister Arvind Pandey emphasized on the significance of following the precautions. He has also informed that students who don’t have parental consent would not be permitted to attend the classes. Over the next 2 to 3 weeks, the focus would be on bringing students back to the classroom teaching mode. Education Minister said,  considering the all aspects of COVID-19 precautions in the Standard operating  procedures issued for opening the school. From November 2, classes for X & XII standards will commence, but the students will be permitted to enter the schools only after written permission from parents.

With the change in situation, the mode of classroom teaching, which was earlier followed, cannot be the norm. Keeping the situation in mind, the guidelines released has also laid importance on the teaching format that would be followed. Also, students would be taught in the school premises but no homework shall be given. The focus would be on revision work and online classes would continue. Meanwhile, Mizoram became the first’s state in the country to reopen and then close the schools again during pandemic.
