Dehradun: Uttarakhand has clinched the prestigious 'Best Adventure Tourism State' accolade from the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI). This esteemed recognition was conferred during a grand ceremony held in Kevadia, Gujarat. Sachin Kurve, Secretary of Tourism & CEO of UTDB, along with Col Ashvini Pundir, Additional CEO (Adventure) of Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB), proudly accepted the award. New Dimensions in Adventure Tourism: Paragliding and Gyrocopter Flights: Expressing his delight, Kurve highlighted that this award acknowledges Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board's relentless endeavors to promote various adventure tourism activities across the state. Over the past year, UTDB has been actively fostering adventure tourism initiatives. This recognition follows the successful hosting of the first-ever Paragliding Acro Festival at Tehri Lake in November and the groundbreaking inaugural Gyrocopter Flight in Haridwar on December 16. These events are expected to revolutionize adventure tourism in India. Boosting Adventure Tourism through Subsidies and Waivers: Kurve emphasized the Tourism Investment Policy 2023-30, which offers substantial capital subsidies of up to 100% on eligible tourism products and services, including adventure activities. This initiative aims to invigorate adventure tourism nationwide. Additionally, the department has waived Operator Fees for water activities like kayaking and rafting in rivers such as Sharda, Alaknanda, Tons, and Bhagirathi, fostering employment opportunities in the region. Uttarakhand is actively formulating a regulatory framework for various adventure activities, including Uttarakhand River Rafting and Kayaking Rules, Foot Launch Aero Sports Rules, Trekking Traction Scheme 2020, SOP for Boat Parasailing, and Trekking Rules 2023. These initiatives aim to create a safer environment while fostering adventure tourism and opportunities for stakeholders in the state. Tourism Minister Commends UTDB's Achievement: Satpal Maharaj, the State Tourism Minister, extended congratulations to the department for this remarkable achievement. He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved in adventure sports within the state and assured them of continuous support from the department.
