Uttarakhand Extends VIP Darshan Ban for Char Dham Yatra Till May 31

Char Dham Yatra: VIP Darshan Ban Extended in Uttarakhand Until May 31 Dehradun: Due to the increasing number of pilgrims visiting the Char Dham Yatra, the Uttarakhand government has extended the ban on "VIP Darshan" until May 31, 2024.

Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi announced in a letter to all state Chief Secretaries, "This year, we have seen a continuous surge in pilgrims visiting the Holy Char Dham in Uttarakhand. To manage this better, we have decided to continue the ban on 'VIP Darshan' until May 31, 2024."

To streamline the pilgrimage process, the state government has implemented a mandatory registration system for the Char Dham Yatra. Pilgrims must register at https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in/. Only those who have registered for a specific date will be allowed to visit the Dhams on that day.

The Chief Secretary also advised that elderly pilgrims and those with pre-existing medical conditions should undergo a medical examination before starting their journey. They should follow the health guidelines issued by the Department of Medical Health and Family Welfare, available at https://health.uk.gov.in/pages/display/140-char-dham-yatra-health-advisory. The Uttarakhand government is dedicated to providing a smooth and safe Yatra experience and urges cooperation in spreading this information widely.

Over 2.6 million devotees from across India and abroad have registered for this year's Char Dham Yatra, which began on May 10. This pilgrimage holds deep spiritual significance in Hinduism and typically takes place from April-May to October-November.

The Char Dham Yatra involves visiting four sacred sites in a specific order: starting at Yamunotri, moving to Gangotri, then Kedarnath, and finally Badrinath. Pilgrims can complete the journey by road or opt for helicopter services.

In Hindi, 'char' means four, and 'dham' refers to religious destinations, making the Char Dham Yatra a revered tour of these four holy sites: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.
