Chamoli: In Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, a section of the Badrinath National Highway (NH-7) has been severely affected by the Lambagad drain, which experienced a surge in water levels due to heavy showers since late Friday night. The impact has been significant, with approximately 50 meters of the highway being washed away as reported by Chamoli Police. The relentless rainfall has been causing falling debris and an increase in the Lambagad drain's water level, leading to the unfortunate destruction of 50 meters of the NH-7 road. This natural calamity has resulted in the blocking of the road near Nandaprayag and Pursari on the Badrinath National Highway, where debris has accumulated, further hindering transportation. The severity of the situation is evident from visuals shared on social media platforms by Chamoli Police, showcasing a substantial pile of debris obstructing the road. The concerned departments and executive bodies have promptly initiated efforts to address the issue and work tirelessly to reopen the road for smooth traffic movement.
