Lucknow: A case of shame to humanity has come to light from Uttar Pradesh. The Superintendent of Police on Tuesday suspended five constables after an objectionable video of the last rites of the body washed away in river Ganga in Ballia district of the state went viral on Monday night. Police sources said, on May 15, the sailors had reported at Phefana police station that a body was lying at Maldepur Ghat on river Ganga, which was being scratched by dogs. On receiving this information, five constables of the police station were sent to the spot for cremation of the body. The sepoys put tyres on top of the body and also poured petrol after setting fire to burn the body quickly. The video went viral on social media on Monday and the matter came to the notice of senior police officials. This has been followed by action by senior police officials. Superintendent of Police Dr Vipin Tanda informed on Tuesday that it is a very shameful and inhuman case. Five constables have been suspended and an inquiry has been handed over to the Additional Superintendent of Police.
