US Dollar to Indian Rupee Exchange Rate Today

The Indian rupee edged up 1 paisa to settle at 78.03 against the US dollar on June 14, staging a small comeback from its lifetime low amid a weak greenback overseas. Domestic markets, high crude oil prices, and ongoing foreign capital outflows weighed on the local currency, forex traders said.

The rupee opened at 78.02 against the dollar on the interbank forex market, moving with an intra-day high of 77.90 and a low of 78.07. It eventually finished at 78.03, hardly 1  paisa higher than its previous close. The dollar index, which measures the strength of the US dollar against a basket of six currencies, dropped 0.05 percent to 105.02. Brent crude futures rose 0.72 percent to USD123.15 a barrel, the global benchmark.

In the Indian equity market front, the BSE Sensex fell 153.13 points, or 0.29 percent, to 52,693.57, while the broader NSE Nifty down 42.30 points, or 0.27 percent, to 15,732.10. 

According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors were net sellers in the capital market on June 13, offloading shares worth Rs. 4,164.01 crore.
