Jaipur: President Droupadi Murmu Emphasizes Education and Character at Mohanlal Sukhadia University Convocation. President highlighted the importance of education as a key to empowerment during her address at the 32nd convocation of Mohanlal Sukhadia University in Udaipur. She urged students to balance their personal ambitions with social responsibility, stating that true welfare is achieved by helping others. During her speech, she acknowledged the university's contributions to society, mentioning that it has produced many successful graduates, including Punjab Governor Gulabchand Kataria. She called on the students to contribute towards the vision of a "Developed India by 2047," expressing confidence that their efforts will help reach this goal. President Murmu reflected on the historical significance of the Mewar region in the struggle for national identity, recalling figures like Rana Sanga, Maharana Pratap, and the poetess Mirabai, who represent a blend of strength and devotion. She noted that the university educates over one lakh students, many of whom are from tribal communities, emphasizing their role in enhancing the nation’s pride. She encouraged students to learn about distinguished personalities who can serve as role models. Recalling the words of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, she emphasized that character is more important than education. She warned that a person who is educated but lacks humility can be more dangerous than a violent animal. She urged the graduates to uphold integrity and justify all their actions, stressing the importance of hard work and dedication in achieving success in the 21st century. The convocation ceremony, presided over by Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, awarded a total of 102 gold medals to 85 students, with 16 males and 69 females recognized for their achievements. Among these were eight Chancellor medals given to two male and six female students. Additionally, 68 students received PhD degrees, including 35 women. President Murmu described the event as a proud moment for society and the nation, particularly highlighting the success of female students in various fields. This visit is part of her two-day trip to Rajasthan, during which she will also attend the Global Summit on "Spirituality for a Clean and Healthy Society" organized by the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya in Mount Abu, along with the Adi Gaurav Samman Samaroh hosted by the Rajasthan government at Mangarh Dham.
