NEW YORK: In just under three months, US President-elect Donald Trump will take the oath of office as president. As he prepares for his return, his core campaign promise to address undocumented immigration remains a top priority. “There is no price tag,” Trump said to media on Thursday, discussing his plan to deport millions of undocumented immigrants. “It’s not about a price tag. Really, we have no choice,” the former and future president said. “When people have committed murders, when drug lords have devastated nations, they’re going back to where they came from. They’re not staying here. There is no price tag,” he added. Trump reinforced his commitment to securing the country’s borders and deporting illegal immigrants while expressing a desire for legal immigration. Speaking to NBC, Trump emphasized the importance of a powerful border but clarified, “We want people to come into our country.” Addressing the potential costs of large-scale deportations, Trump said the focus isn’t on financial considerations. "When people have killed and murdered, when drug lords have destroyed countries… there is no price tag," he said, underscoring his stance on upholding law and order. Trump also shared his goal of bringing “common sense” to governance, critiquing policies like “defund the police,” which he said are unpopular with the public. "The Democrats are not in line with the thinking of the country," he added, citing increased support among Latinos, Asian Americans, women, and young voters. In recent discussions, Trump described calls with President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris as “very nice and respectful,” adding that he anticipates meeting Biden for lunch. He shared that he has spoken to 70 world leaders since his election victory, including Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi posted on X that he looked forward to strengthening US-India relations in areas like technology, defense, and energy.
