AGARTALA: As the saffron party prepares for the assembly elections scheduled for early next year, the ruling BJP in Tripura will organise a "rath yatra" across the state beginning on January 1, a party senior announced on Monday. He said, a three-member committee led by Minister of Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury has been formed to supervise the yatra's preparations. The 60-member Tripura Assembly will be chosen in a February election. Sunit Sarkar, the BJP's media coordinator, stated that one yatra would leave from the North Tripura district and the other from the South Tripura district. Subarta Chakraborty, the party's principal spokeswoman, said that the purpose of the yatra is to enlist public support prior to the election. He stated, "We do believe that people will participate in the 'rath yatra' to express solidarity with the party that has attended to their fundamental needs. Party sources claim that this kind of yatra will be organised by a political party in the northeastern state before an election for the first time. The BJP held multiple road shows during the 2018 assembly elections, with a number of Union ministers serving as their leaders. The saffron party's massive outreach initiative, "Prati Ghare Shushan," came to an end on Sunday.
