Agartala: A huge fire broke out in Kamalpur branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) in Ambasa, Tripura on Monday morning, burning the entire office to ashes. According to the border subdivision officer of Kamalpur in North Tripura district, a sudden fire broke out at the State Bank of India (SBI) branch this morning. According to information provided by the sources, the landlord, who has a back branch in the house, saw smoke coming out of the bank and reported it to the fire brigade department. The fire extinguishers were dispatched to the spot immediately after the fire was reported and the fire was controlled within 45 minutes. Meanwhile police and back officers also reached the spot. Locals also helped the fire department to extinguish the fire. But by then the branch of the bank was completely burnt to ashes. Bank branch manager Sunit Majumdar informed the media that the fire had caused damage of up to Rs 50 lakh. The furniture and machinery present in the bank was completely burnt to ashes, although there was no loss of data and deposits and valuables. The fire service and police said that prima facie it appears that a short circuit is the reason behind the fire.
