Tripura: 16-year-old gang rape victim breaks down in hospital

Agartala: A 16-year-old gang rape victim has succumbed to her injuries at GBP hospital in Agartala. The rape took place in Longtharai Valley division, about 50 kilometres from Agartala. According to the victim's family, the criminals raped her and fled. Police first registered a case of fatal injury and after the death of the minor girl, Himadri Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Ambasa police station, said, "A case of murder will now be registered.''

According to sources, the girl was rescued by her family from her house in 16-year-old Longthrai Valley division. His parents are jhum farmers. After cultivating the jhum land, they returned home in the evening to find the girl lying naked on the ground inside her house and bleeding. They also saw several injury marks on her body According to the victim's mother, neighbours rushed to see her daughter bleeding.

They immediately informed the police. A police team rushed to the spot on receiving information. The victim was admitted to GBP Hospital where she died on Thursday as her condition was critical. The victim's mother alleged that taking advantage of her loneliness, a group of miscreants raped her daughter and left her to die.
