Tik Tok started once again in Nepal

The social media app TikTok was very popular at one time and was widely used by people. But due to some controversies and incidents, it was banned in many countries. Many countries including India and America had banned TikTok. Now Nepal has lifted the ban on this app, although with some conditions.

Why was TikTok banned in Nepal?

The government of Nepal banned TikTok about 9 months ago. The reason for this ban was that TikTok was accused of disturbing social harmony and promoting anti-social activities. The government of Nepal declared it illegal and banned it completely.

Reason for lifting the ban

Recently, Nepal's cabinet decided to lift the ban on TikTok. This decision was taken when TikTok's parent company ByteDance assured to work closely with Nepal's law enforcement and fix TikTok's content. Under this agreement, ByteDance has promised to follow Nepal's rules and fix the shortcomings of the app.

Crimes related to TikTok

The previous government of Nepal had expressed concern over the misuse of TikTok and the increasing number of crimes related to it. According to reports, more than 1600 cyber crimes related to TikTok were registered in Nepal in the last 4 years. In view of the increasing cases of these crimes, the government had banned TikTok for security reasons.

Status of TikTok in India's neighboring countries

Talking about India's neighboring countries, Pakistan has banned TikTok several times, but each time the ban was lifted later. Similarly, there is a partial ban on TikTok in China, where some features have been banned. Apart from this, some features of TikTok are also banned in Indonesia which are against the rules of the government. Nepal has taken an important step by lifting the ban on TikTok, but this ban has been lifted with some conditions. This step shows that the government and companies are ready to find a solution together, but it is also important to be cautious about the misuse of social media.
