Mumbai’s local train services are facing significant disruptions on August 28 and 29 due to ongoing construction work on the new 6th line between Goregaon and Kandivali. The Western Railway has announced cancellations, short-terminations, and modifications to several train services during this period. The construction work has resulted in a five-hour block, starting from 11:00 PM today and continuing until 4:00 AM on Thursday. Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer for Western Railway, stated that 22 suburban trains have been cancelled, while four trains will experience short-terminations and modifications. These mega blocks began on August 27 and will include five such blocks, which will last up to 10 hours on weekends. The entire project is expected to conclude by October 6, with a pause in work from September 11 to 17 for the Ganpati festival, according to WR General Manager Ashok Kumar Misra.
