THESE DISTRICTS IN TRIPURA ON ALERT FOR HEAVY RAIN AND CYCLONE IMPACT

Tripura's government has taken precautionary measures in response to a cyclonic storm alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The alert covers all eight districts of the state, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and thunderstorms over the next 48 hours.

According to Tamal Majumder, additional secretary (Revenue), "A depression in the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm by Saturday. This will bring heavy rainfall and gusty winds to Tripura from May 25 to May 28."

The IMD has issued an orange alert for South Tripura, Gomati, Dhalai, Sepahijala, and West Tripura districts on May 26. These areas are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

On May 27, similar weather conditions are expected to affect South Tripura, Gomati, Dhalai, Sepahijala, and West Tripura districts, with thunderstorms, lightning, squally winds up to 50-60 kmph, and heavy rainfall.

Moving to May 28, North Tripura, Unakoti, and Dhalai districts are expected to experience thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds, and heavy rainfall.

"All district magistrates have been instructed to take precautionary measures to handle any unforeseen situations," Majumder emphasized. "They have been advised to keep the NDRF, SDRF, Tripura State Rifles, fire services, and essential services on standby."

The authorities are urging residents to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions.
