Teacher Mohammad Abdul Arrested in Madhya Pradesh for Assault on Student Chanting 'Jai Shri Ram'

Bhopal: In the Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh, a teacher named Mohammad Abdul Wahid, employed at Green Bells School in Budhar town, was arrested on Saturday for brutally assaulting a class 7 student who had chanted "Jai Shri Ram" in the classroom. The incident sparked outrage among the student's parents and Hindu organizations, leading to a protest and subsequent police action. The school's director, Sameer Niyazi, was also implicated in the case.

The assault occurred on Saturday morning when the teacher discovered students chanting "Jai Shri Ram" in an unattended classroom. Mohammad Abdul Wahid confronted the students, and upon learning the name of the student leading the chants, he subjected the victim to a severe beating.

Distraught, the minor student returned home and recounted the incident to his parents, who promptly informed the local community. People gathered and, along with Hindu organization members, marched to the Budhar police station, demanding justice and action against the teacher.

The police registered a case against the teacher and the school director under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Juvenile Justice Act. The charges include sections 153, 323, 34, and 500 of the IPC, along with section 82 of the Juvenile Justice Act. Mohammad Abdul Wahid, the accused teacher, has been taken into custody, and there are calls to revoke the school's license.

Sanjeev Jaiswal, the police station house officer, stated, "An incident of assault has come to light wherein a student was beaten for chanting Jai Shri Ram in school.
