Taylor Swift has officially endorsed Kamala Harris for president following the conclusion of Harris' presidential debate against Donald Trump. In an Instagram post on Tuesday night, Swift shared that she had thoroughly researched the candidates before making her decision. "I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election," Swift wrote. "I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them." The pop star praised Harris as a "steady-handed, gifted leader" and emphasized her preference for calm, stable leadership over chaos. "I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos," Swift added. In the post, which featured a photo of Swift with her cat, she humorously signed it "Childless Cat Lady," a nod to controversial remarks made by JD Vance, Trump's vice-presidential candidate, who referred to some Democrats, including Harris, as "childless cat ladies." Swift also applauded Harris’ choice of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, commending his long-standing support for LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive rights, and access to IVF. Part of Swift's decision to share her endorsement was prompted by a fake AI-generated image falsely showing her supporting Trump, which had appeared on his website. "It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation," she said, explaining her desire to be transparent about her voting plans. Swift joins other celebrities, such as John Legend, Olivia Rodrigo, George Clooney, and Spike Lee, who have publicly endorsed Harris. Meanwhile, Trump has secured endorsements from Hulk Hogan, Amber Rose, and Elon Musk. This is not the first time Swift has endorsed Harris. In the 2020 election, she voiced her support for then-candidate Joe Biden and Harris as vice president. Swift, who has been a vocal critic of Trump during his presidency, urged her followers—especially first-time voters—to register and participate in the election. "I've done my research, and I've made my choice," she concluded. "Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make."
