A tragic incident took place in Delhi's Deshbandhu Gupta area on Saturday evening. Two friends, who were talking while sitting on a scooter, suddenly the outdoor unit of an air conditioner (AC) installed on the second floor window broke and fell on them. In this accident, 18-year-old Jitesh Chaddha died on the spot, while his friend Pranshu suffered serious injuries.
AC unit fell on friends, one died on the spot
The incident happened around 7:30 pm. Jitesh and his friend Pranshu were standing near a scooty and talking. Jitesh was sitting on the scooty and Pranshu was standing next to him. Meanwhile, suddenly the outdoor unit of the AC installed on the second floor window broke and fell on them. Jitesh suffered serious injuries on the head and other parts of the body, due to which he died instantly. Pranshu also suffered injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital, where his treatment is going on.
Police started investigation, case registered against flat owner
After the accident, the police reached the spot and both the students were immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors declared Jitesh dead. The police have registered a case of negligence against the flat owner in this case. The forensic team also reached the spot and investigated. Initial investigation has revealed that the stand on which the AC unit was resting was broken, due to which this accident happened.

The police have handed over Jitesh's body to his family after conducting a post-mortem. Jitesh was a class 12 student and lived with his parents in Doriwalan area. On Saturday, he had gone to Siddhipura to meet his friend Pranshu, where the incident took place.
