Special Trains for Maharashtra Assembly Polls to Ensure Smooth Travel for Voters

In preparation for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Elections, Central Railway has announced special suburban train services to support the movement of election officials and the public. These services will run on November 19-20 and November 20-21, covering the Main Line (CSMT-Kalyan) and the Harbour Line (CSMT-Panvel).

On November 19-20, special trains will operate between CSMT and Kalyan, as well as between CSMT and Panvel. The trains will run in both directions, with the CSMT-Kalyan, CSMT-Panvel, and Panvel-CSMT routes included.

On November 20-21, additional services will be available, including CSMT-Kalyan Special, Kalyan-CSMT, and CSMT-Panvel trains.

All special trains will stop at all stations between CSMT-Kalyan and CSMT-Panvel, according to the schedule. The aim of these additional services is to improve connectivity and ensure smooth travel for election participants. Passengers are encouraged to use these trains for their travel during the election period.

Maharashtra's political scene sees the Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP, facing off against the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which includes Congress, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, and Sharad Pawar-led NCP.

The Maharashtra Assembly elections will take place on November 20, with votes set to be counted on November 23.

In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena secured 56, and Congress earned 44 seats. In 2014, the BJP had 122 seats, Shiv Sena won 63, and Congress had 42.
