Sudip Roy Barman and Asish Kumar Saha, who resigned as MLAs on Monday, have been accepted by Tripura Speaker Rantan Chakraborty. On Tuesday, Chakraborty accepted the resignations of the two MPs. "They physically handed resignation letters yesterday, and I have approved their resignation petitions after a thorough assessment," Tripura Speaker Ratan Chakraborty said. "As a result, their MLA status has been revoked, and they will now be referred to as former MLAs," he said. "It is the prerogative of the electoral commission of India when and how the by-polls are going to be held," the Tripura Speaker stated in response to a question about any updates on the holding of by-polls. In the presence of former AICC head Rahul Gandhi and AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, ex-MLAs Sudip Roy Barman and Asish Kumar Saha formally joined the Congress party in New Delhi. At the joining ceremony, a delegation of Tripura Congress leaders led by TPCC President Birakti Sinha was also present. They are expected to return to Tripura on February 12th and make public statements about their future course of action inside the Congress party.
