Sonia's body found hanging in Congress MLA's bungalow, claims to be his girlfriend

Lucknow: A case of instigation of suicide has been registered against former Madhya Pradesh minister and Congress MLA Umang Singhar. The case relates to Sonia Bharadwaj's khudkushi. The body of 39-year-old Sonia Bhardwaj, a resident of Ambala in Haryana, was recovered from a private bungalow in MLA in Bhopal on Sunday (May 16, 2021). He had reportedly hanged himself in the bungalow.

A suicide note was also recovered from him. Sonia is said to have been a female friend of the Congress MLA. The two were going to get married soon. A case under Section 306 has been registered at Shahpura police station in Bhopal. Umang Singhar is currently MLA gandhwani. After the matter came to light, he had written an application to the IG of Bhopal range appealing that he was a public representative, so an inquiry should be conducted by the magistrate before the FIR. Singhar had claimed that, "Sonia's suicide note does not contain anything that would lead to a case of abetment to suicide" He had also referred to the recent Supreme Court order on TV journalist Arnab Goswami in his application.

However, on Monday evening, Bhopal ACP Rajesh Singh Bhadauria said that after questioning the servants living in MLA's bungalow, his (Congress leader) wife, Sonia's son, he said, "A case under Section 306 of the IPC has been registered against Congress MLA Umang Singhar for instigating the suicide case".
