Mau: A brother killed his 16-year-old cousin with a knife in UP's Mau district. After that, the body was put in a sack and burnt on the river bank. The case pertains to Khalispur village under the Sarai Lakhansi police station area. The incident came to light when the deceased's brother saw blood in the criminal's car and found that his sister was also missing from the house. The brother got suspicious and lodged a complaint with the police. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and arrested the culprit. During rigorous interrogation, the criminal confessed to his crime. The police then recovered the girl's charred body from the bank of the river on her trail. Due to the incident, the police are citing a family dispute. The accused told police that he and his cousin were alone in the house at the time of the incident. He said that there was a dispute between the two families over something. When the family members of the deceased went to Mohammadabad for some work and his brother went to the mosque to offer prayers, the criminal killed the cousin sister. The brother of the accused said that he went to the house of the deceased and took her to the bathroom and attacked her with a knife. The teenager died on the spot. Thereafter, the culprit put her body in a sack and took it on a bike and burnt it on the river bank. On the other hand, Mau City CO Dhananjay Mishra said that a case of murder was registered against the culprit and he was still being interrogated.
