Sharad Pawar said on the question of PM's face - 'I will not contest elections at all'

Mumbai: NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Monday put an end to his chances of becoming the prime minister, saying that he is not going to contest the next elections. Although he said on his campaign of unity of the opposition that his efforts are paying off. Sharad Pawar said that my effort is to bring the opposition together. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is also making some similar efforts. 

Significantly, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar had met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge earlier in the day. Then Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said that soon there will be a meeting of all the leaders of the opposition. In his latest statement, Sharad Pawar said that he will not contest the next election. In such a situation there is no question of my becoming PM. He said that I am not in the race to become the PM. Sharad Pawar's latest statement assumes significance for the Congress, which is desperately trying to bring the opposition together. He said that we want a leadership that will work for the development of the country. 

At the same time, he also kept his side regarding seat sharing in MVA. Sharad Pawar said that there has been no talk about seat sharing yet. He said that there was a meeting at my residence. It was decided in this meeting that the leaders of all the parties would together take a decision in this regard. Sharad Pawar said that Uddhav Thackeray, Sonia Gandhi or Mallikarjun Kharge and I will sit and discuss it. Let us tell you that after the victory of Congress in Karnataka, the tone of opposition unity has again started gaining momentum. It was praised by Nitish Pawar after the Congress won a majority in Karnataka. He called it the victory of the entire opposition.
