Sensex and Nifty both fall over 2 pc Amid sluggish global markets,

WEEKEND MARKET CLOSING UPDATES: On Friday, benchmark indices took a serious beating, with the Sensex and Nifty each plunging close to 2 percent on weak trends in the international market.

The 30-share BSE Sensex dropped for the third straight day, losing 1,093.22 points or 1.82 percent to close at 58,840.79. It lost 1,246.84 points, or 2 percent, throughout the day to reach 58,687.17. The NSE Nifty settled at 17,530.85, falling 346.55 points, or 1.94 percent.

Tech Mahindra and UltraTech Cement dropped more than 4 percent each from the Sensex pack, ranking as the two biggest laggards.

Infosys, Mahindra & Mahindra, Wipro, TCS, Nestle, and Reliance Industries were some of the other companies to set in the negative zone. The sole winner was IndusInd Bank.

International Markets: Markets in Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong ended lower on other Asian exchanges. The majority of European stock exchange quotes were in the negative range. On Thursday, U.S. markets had a lower closing price.

In the meantime, the benchmark Brent crude price increased globally by 0.32 percent to USD 91.13 per barrel. According to data available with the Bombay Stock Exchagne, foreign institutional investors sold shares worth a net of 1,270.68 crore on Thursday in the domestic market.
