Mumbai: Sanjay Raut, a leader from the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction, emphasized the pivotal role of the Congress in India's journey towards independence and its advancements in science and technology. Speaking to the media in Mumbai, Raut credited the Congress for maintaining national unity and asserted that without its leadership, India would not have achieved independence or made progress in various fields, including science and technology. Responding to queries about the BJP's release of a book titled "Congress Nahi Hoti Tou Kya Hota" (What if there was no Congress), Raut highlighted the significance of the Congress in shaping India's history and development. He criticized the BJP for allegedly prioritizing the interests of businessmen over the welfare of the country. Raut also pointed out the role of the Congress in the partition of Pakistan and emphasized that without the party, the unity of the country would not have been preserved. Taking a swipe at the BJP, Raut accused the party of contributing to the country's economic challenges and alleged that their policies have led to poverty and social unrest. He criticized the BJP for various issues, including communal riots, currency depreciation, and corruption scandals such as Rafale and electoral bonds. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, along with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and actor Swara Bhaskar, led the 'Jan Nyay Padyatra' from Mani Bhavan Sangrahalaya to August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai. The yatra aimed to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's principles of justice and national unity. Upon reaching the Kranti Maidan, Rahul Gandhi paid floral tribute at the Gandhi Smarak Stambh.
