New Delhi: Robert Vadra, the husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, has expressed his belief that his wife possesses the qualifications to be a member of the Lok Sabha and deserves a place in Parliament. In an interview, Vadra emphasized that Priyanka Gandhi would excel in Parliament and called for better planning by the Congress party to ensure her inclusion. Vadra also criticized Union Minister Smriti Irani for sharing a photograph of him with business magnate Gautam Adani during a recent debate on the no-confidence motion in Parliament. While Vadra usually avoids politics, he asserted that he would speak out to protect his name and challenged anyone making accusations against him to provide evidence. Challenging those who use his name and photographs, Vadra said, "Show me something that I have done with Mr. Adani. If there is any wrongdoing, I will address it. If not, an apology and retraction are due." Vadra questioned the association between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gautam Adani, pointing out that there is a photograph of the Prime Minister in Adani's plane. He also echoed Rahul Gandhi's queries about this relationship and its implications. Commenting on the opposition alliance, Vadra expressed confidence in the INDIA bloc formed by the Congress, predicting a strong competition against the BJP-led NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He emphasized the significance of the alliance in revitalizing India and reinstating its secular and progressive values. Vadra criticized Prime Minister Modi's absence in Manipur and his derogatory remarks about the state during a parliamentary speech. He called for the prime minister's attention to the sensitive issues occurring in Manipur, particularly the distressing incident where two women were paraded naked. Addressing Manipur's situation, Vadra stated, "The prime minister should be involved in understanding and resolving the matter or entrust it to another party." He urged a proactive approach towards resolving the critical issues in the state.
