Raksha Bandhan Special: Rakhi tied to Baba Mahakal first in Bhasma Aarti

This time the festival of Rakshabandhan is being celebrated in a very special way in Ujjain's famous Jyotirlinga Mahakal temple. On the occasion of Shravan Purnima, on Monday, Lord Mahakal was tied a rakhi and a special puja was performed. During the Bhasma Aarti at 2:30 am on Sunday-Monday midnight, the first rakhi was tied to Lord Mahakal, which was the beginning of this holy day. After this, a mahabhog of 1.25 lakh laddus was offered to Lord Mahakal, which created a special spiritual atmosphere in the entire temple premises.

Offering of one and a quarter lakh Laddus: A unique tradition of devotion

Mahakal temple has a unique tradition of Bhasma Aarti during the month of Shravan, in which 1.25 lakh laddus are offered to Lord Mahakal. This time, the Puja was performed by the families of government priests Pt. Ghanshyam Sharma, Pt. Ashish Pujari, Pt. Sanjay Pujari and Pt. Vikas Pujari. They offered 1.25 lakh laddus to the Lord with full devotion. After this bhog, laddus were distributed to the devotees as Mahaprasadi throughout the day. The devotees were blessed by receiving Mahaprasadi and the atmosphere of the temple was filled with devotion.

 

 

Last ride of Shravan month today

In the month of Shravan, a special procession of Lord Mahakal is taken out, in which a large number of devotees participate. This time the fifth and last procession of Shravan month will be taken out on Monday. In this procession, devotees will get to see the Holkar Mukharvind of Lord Mahakal. This procession will start from the temple at 4 pm with traditional royal pomp and splendor. The special thing is that this time Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will also participate in the procession, which has further increased the importance of this event.

After the Shravan month's procession, the first procession of Bhado month will be held on August 26 and the royal procession of Shravan-Bhado month will be held on September 2. Devotees eagerly wait for these processions, as people come to Ujjain from far-off places to get a glimpse of Lord Mahakal.
