WAYANAD: Congress MP from Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, launched a scathing attack on the BJP during her two-day visit to Kerala following her first electoral victory. Speaking at a public meeting on Saturday, Priyanka accused the BJP of disregarding democratic norms, even in political confrontations.
Drawing an analogy to the recent landslides in Wayanad, Priyanka said the BJP's actions were similarly destructive, without rules or accountability. "The political challenges we face from the BJP today are like landslides. There are no rules. There are no explanations," she said at a joint public meeting in Mukkam alongside her brother, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
She added, "The behavior of the ruling party at the Centre, the BJP, disregards democratic norms, not even adhering to the principles we usually follow in political fights."
Concerns Over Eroding Institutions Priyanka expressed concern about the state of democratic institutions, which she claimed were being undermined, causing people to lose trust in the electoral process and the systems that uphold the country.
She assured the people of Wayanad that their voice would be heard in Parliament. "It is your voice that I will raise, your problems I will strive to resolve, and your beliefs, values, and aspirations I will stand for every day from now until the end," she said.
Packed Schedule in Kerala Following the public meeting at Mukkam in the Thiruvambady assembly constituency, Priyanka was scheduled to attend receptions in Karulai, Nilambur, Wandoor, and Edavanna in the Eranad area.
Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency comprises seven assembly segments: Mananthavady (ST), Sulthan Bathery (ST), and Kalpetta in Wayanad district; Thiruvambady in Kozhikode district; and Eranad, Nilambur, and Wandoor in Malappuram district.
A Resounding Electoral Victory Priyanka's maiden electoral victory in the Wayanad bypoll saw her securing an impressive margin of 4,10,931 votes, surpassing the lead her brother Rahul Gandhi achieved in the Lok Sabha general elections earlier this year.
