RAIPUR: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi reached Raipur on Saturday, February 25, to attend the party's 85th plenary session. Bhupesh Baghel, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh, and Mohan Markam, the party's state president, met Gandhi at the airport. Leaders of Uttar Pradesh Congress Nasimuddin Siddiqui, Ajay Rai, state president Brij Lal Khabri were also present at the airport. Three resolutions viz political, economic, and international, will be discussed on day two of the plenary. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge will deliver an introductory statement before the session begins, and then there will be discussions of the topics that the subject committee has proposed. Sonia Gandhi, a former leader of the Congress, will also address the assembly as the party's chief. In order to ensure sufficient representation of SCs, STs, OBCs, minorities, women, and those under 50 years old in the Congress Working Committee-- the party's highest decision-making body-the party will also discuss the constitutional resolution and alter its constitution. In the 3-day session, the party is expected to take key decisions that would lay out a clear roadmap for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and finalize the strategy for forging poll tie-ups with like-minded parties to take on the BJP. Jairam Ramesh, the Congress general secretary in charge of communications, was asked if elections for the CWC seats would be held. 15,000 delegates are expected to attend the session, which takes place against the backdrop of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which has been hailed as a success by the party.
