Bhopal: The State Election Commission has started its preparations for the civic body and panchayat elections in Madhya Pradesh. The code of conduct for the body elections has come into force and the nomination process has also begun. In this order, the holidays of more than 10,000 officers and employees have been cancelled. In view of the body elections, the municipal administration has also issued an order in this regard. Corporation Commissioner V S Chaudhary Kolsani has issued orders cancelling the holidays. The officers have been instructed not to allow leave to any employee. In special circumstances, leave will be available only on the permission of the Corporation Commissioner. The holiday will remain cancelled till the election code of conduct comes into force. At the same time, the State Election Commission has become alert on the illegal sale of liquor. The Election Commission will keep a close watch on liquor in the panchayat and body elections. The State Election Commission has issued an order in this regard to principal secretary commercial taxes. The order has directed immediate action and monitoring of illegal sale of liquor.
