Panaji: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by Pramod Sawant has won 20 seats in the recently concluded elections to the 40-member Goa Assembly. Now Sawant will be sworn in as the cm of the state for the second time on Monday in the presence of PM Narendra Modi. The swearing-in ceremony has been held at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium at 11 am on Monday. An official spokesman said that PM Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be present at the ceremony. More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the event at the stadium. However, the BJP has not revealed the number of other cabinet ministers who were sworn in on Monday. Apart from the CM, there could be 11 more ministers in the Goa cabinet. This will be the second time that the Goa CM will be sworn in outside the Raj Bhavan complex. Earlier in 2012, Manohar Parrikar was sworn in as CM at the Campal ground in the state capital Panaji. The BJP had then emerged as the single largest party in the House. Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai has convened a two-day session of the new assembly from March 29, during which Sawant will have to seek a vote of confidence. A new president will also be elected during the session.
