Bhopal: PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 750 MW solar power project installed at Rewa in Madhya Pradesh at 11 am today. PM Modi will address the country through video conferencing the biggest solar energy project in Asia. For the first time after the formation of a BJP government under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chauhan in Madhya Pradesh, PM Modi is participating in the state's program, which is considered to be very important. PM Modi tweeted that, "I will inaugurate a 750 MW solar project in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh through video conferencing at 11 am on July 10. This solar project gives impetus to our commitment to increasing renewable energy capacity by 2022. The project consists of three solar generating units of 250–250 MW each. The project is expected to emit carbon equivalent of 1.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide." This solar project is also the first renewable energy project to supply to an institutional customer outside the state. This project is getting cheap power in proportion to the coal power plant. Electricity is being sold at the rate of two rupees 97 paise per unit. It will provide 24 percent of its total electricity to Delhi Metro. While the remaining 76 percent power will be supplied to the state electricity distribution companies of Madhya Pradesh.
