PM Modi to Address Kautilya Economic Conclave Today: Discussions on Jobs, AI, and Green Economy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the third Kautilya Economic Conclave today, where key topics like job creation, the green economy, artificial intelligence (AI), and public policy design will be discussed. The PM  will participate at around 6.30 pm and will address the gathering, an official statement said.

 

This year's conclave will focus on critical themes, such as reforming international financial systems, financing the green transition, and addressing geo-economic fragmentation's impact on growth.

The discussions will also cover India’s middle-income trap, skilling the workforce, and AI’s role in shaping public policy. The event will also explore strategies to preserve economic resilience.

With the theme 'The Indian Era,' the conclave will gather around 150 national and international experts and policymakers to examine pressing economic issues in India and the Global South.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will deliver the inaugural address, while External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will give the closing speech at the 3-day event scheduled from October 4 to 6.

Organized by the Department of Economic Affairs and the Institute of Economic Growth, the conclave will also discuss the challenges of creating more regular jobs in India, adapting the multilateral system to avoid economic fragmentation, and fostering multilateral cooperation.

The third edition will further highlight India's comparative advantage in AI, machine learning (ML), and fintech for job creation. It will assess the nation’s growth trajectory and examine strategies to maintain productivity growth.

The conclave will also discuss needed reforms to make the financial system more resilient and efficient. Long-term initiatives for sustainable development goals, climate change action, and renewable energy will also be major points of deliberation.

The finance ministry noted that the event will emphasize India's increasing role as a connector for countries in the Global South.

Prominent speakers include Bhutan's Finance Minister Lyonpo Lekey Dorji, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister P.K. Mishra, Chief Economist of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Erik Berglof, Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog Suman Beri, and Harvard Kennedy School Professor Robert Lawrence.
