NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt wishes on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi. In a message shared on X, PM Modi expressed, "Eid Mubarak! Best wishes on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi. May harmony and togetherness always prevail. Let there be joy and prosperity all around." President Droupadi Murmu also extended her greetings to the nation, emphasizing Prophet Muhammad's teachings. She said, "On the auspicious occasion of Milad-ul-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, I congratulate all the countrymen, especially the Muslim brothers and sisters. Prophet Muhammad set a remarkable example of a human society based on equality and patience. On this day, let us pledge to follow his teachings and work for the nation's progress." Union Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijuju shared his wishes, stating, "Warm Milad-un-Nabi wishes to all! May this day bring joy, love, and a renewed spirit of togetherness." Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also greeted the people on the occasion, saying, "Eid Milad-Un-Nabi Mubarak to everyone. May this blessed occasion bring peace, compassion, and prosperity, fostering unity and harmony among all." Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav extended his congratulations as well, offering his "Hearty congratulations to everyone on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi." Milad-un-Nabi, also known as Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi or Mawlid, commemorates the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. The event is observed on the 12th day of Rabi Ul Awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar. This year, the celebrations began on Sunday, September 15, 2024, and concluded on Monday, September 16, 2024. The occasion is marked by reflecting on the Prophet’s life, teachings, and forgiveness, with minimal festivities and a focus on observance.
