MUMBAI: Four distinguished persons, including Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, are set to receive the esteemed 26th 'SIES-Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi National Eminence Award' in Mumbai on December 16. This recognition, across various categories, marks their exceptional contributions. Apart from Piyush Goyal, the other three recipients of the 2023 award are Prof. Anurag Behar, Vice-Chancellor of Azim Premji University; Prof. Urbasi Sinha, a British-born scientist excelling in Quantum Technology; and Dushyanth Sridhar, a renowned film director, author, and preacher. Each awardee will receive a prize package that includes a cash reward of Rs 2.50 lakhs, a 5-foot tall gold-plated brass lamp, a citation, a shawl, and other honorary items. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Sri Shanmukhananda Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Auditorium on Saturday, as part of the Sri Kanchi Mahaswami festival. Dr. V. Shankar, the President of SIES, highlighted that the awards are named in honor of the 68th Seer of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, and over the past 25 years, they've recognized 100 eminent personalities from various fields. These include former Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Prime Ministers, Lok Sabha Speakers, Governors, Bharat Ratnas, as well as foreign dignitaries. The recipients for the 2023 edition have been chosen for their outstanding contributions in specific domains. Piyush Goyal is being honored for Public Leadership, Anurag Behar for Community Leadership, Urbasi Sinha for Science & Technology, and Dushyanth Sridhar for Social Leadership & Spiritualism.
