New Delhi: You all know that oil marketing companies issue new rates of petrol and diesel at 6 am every day. New prices have also been released today. And today again the general public has got relief and there is no change in the price. Petrol price in Delhi today is ₹ 96.72 litre and diesel is Rs 89.62. The cheapest petrol in the country is Rs 84.10 in Port Blair and diesel is ₹79.74 litre. Petrol is about 12 rupees cheaper here than in Delhi. On the other hand, even today, the most expensive petrol in the country is Rs 114.38 per litre in Parbhani in Maharashtra and diesel at Rs 100.30 per litre in Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. Today i.e. Thursday is also a day of relief as there is no change in the rate of petrol and diesel. Petrol is still cheaper by Rs 29.39 in Port Blair as compared to Sriganganagar. The price of crude oil is still seeing a rise. You must be aware that the Central Government, in a major relief to the common man, had announced a few days ago to cut the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 8 and Rs 6 per litre respectively, which has led to a fall in the prices of petrol and diesel by at least Rs 9.5 and Rs 7. The cycle of petrol sold at the pump from the crude oil contracts in the country is 22 days, i.e. the crude oil purchased on one date of the month reaches the pump to be sold on the 22nd (average estimate). In fact, the cost of processing of crude oil is added to the price of one litre of retail oil, after that when it comes out of the refinery, its base price is fixed. After that, the cost of delivering the oil from there to the pump, the central and state taxes as well as the dealer's commission are also added. All this is charged from the customer.
