Traffic rule breakers to be monitored with drones, fines will be deducted automatically

Dehradun: Amid the ever-increasing traffic in Uttarakhand's capital Dehradun, the police have started the action of fine with the help of drone cameras. Uttarakhand Police has started monitoring heavy traffic roads by installing NDR cameras in drones. The police have started issuing fines to motorists who violate traffic rules on these roads. These fines are being done through an automatic system. For this, the police have just flown two drones, although there is a plan to increase their number in the near future.

According to the traffic police, the problem of traffic jams in Dehradun is constantly increasing. In most places, the problem of jams is being created due to violation of traffic rules. Since there is no proper parking arrangement in the city. In such a situation, people start parking vehicles on the road. Due to this, a situation of jam arises. The police have currently flown two drones to identify such vehicles and take action against them. NPR cameras have been installed in both of these drones. These cameras are being used to read the number plates of the vehicles and take action for fines.

NPR camera is actually a number plate reader camera. This camera is usually used by the traffic police. With this camera, the registration plate of vehicles can be easily read. Generally, there is an inconvenience in reading the number plates of vehicles with a normal camera. Drone engineer Saurabh Kumar said that 10 to 15 challans are being issued per day. With the help of these two drones, monitoring is done in a radius of 5 to 7 km from the SSP office. Apart from this, even if there is a VVIP tour or program anywhere, the spot is monitored with the help of these drones.
