On September 9, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will conduct a virtual event to release the NIRF India rating for 2021. The government uses the NIRF to evaluate colleges and universities based on teaching, learning, and resources; research and professional activity; graduation results; outreach and inclusion; and peer perception.
In 2015, the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was established to evaluate higher education institutions in the country using objective criteria in order to encourage The NIRF ranking 2021 will be the country's sixth annual ranking of higher education institutions. Institutes were asked to submit applications is December 2020 to participate in this year's ranking.
The NIRF rankings were released in June of last year. Seven IITs were included in the overall top ten rankings, including those in Bombay, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Guwahati, and Roorkee, as well as three non-IITs: the IISc, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and Benaras Hindu University (BHU). The 11th and 10th places, respectively, went to Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia.
IIMs at Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta had been ranked first, second and third in NIRF 2020.
