How Nicole Kidman Shares Heartfelt Memories of Her Late Mother

Washington: Nicole Kidman recently reflected on the profound influence her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, had on her life and career. Janelle, who passed away in September at the age of 84, was described by Nicole as a major guide and mentor.

"My mother was obviously a major guide through my life and probably my compass in terms of everything I did," said the star of Special Ops: Lioness.

In her heartfelt tribute, Kidman expressed gratitude for her mother’s encouragement in her career pursuits. "She's given me the fire to pursue the career I have because I've always wanted to please her," Kidman explained. "But she also carved her own path and wanted her daughters to have the same opportunity to carve their own paths."

Kidman emphasized her mother’s dedication to providing her and her sister with opportunities. "Mum didn't necessarily get the career that she wanted, but she was determined that her daughters would have opportunities that were equal," she said. "That's given me my life. And she gave me my life, she and my dad."

Nicole Kidman’s rise to fame began with key roles in Dead Calm and the miniseries Bangkok Hilton. She gained international recognition for her performance in Days of Thunder (1990) and went on to star in major films like Far and Away (1992), To Die For (1995), Batman Forever (1995), Practical Magic (1998), and Eyes Wide Shut (1999).

Recently, the Oscar-winning actress earned the Best Actress award at the Venice Film Festival for her role in Eyes Wide Shut, directed by Halina Reijn. Shortly after, her new Netflix series, The Perfect Couple, climbed to the top spot on the platform.
