THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: President Ram Nath Kovind said on Tuesday that the government's role in promoting education is to assist in the creation of an environment in which "young minds would be fueled with creativity." "The National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020 is a well-thought-out blueprint for creating an environment that will nourish our youth's potential. The NEP strives to equip them with the best of our own traditions while also preparing them for the world of tomorrow "Kovind stated. The President made the remarks while addressing at the Central University of Kerala's 5th convocation in Kasargode, about 500 kilometers from the state capital. He went on to say that he has met with vice-chancellors of central universities and directors of other educational institutions to discuss the NEP's implementation. "The general consensus is that this reorientation of our educational policy has long been needed and has the potential to transform India into a knowledge hub. I deem that the most outstanding feature of the NEP is that it aims to promote both inclusion and excellence.NEP fosters liberal and professional education through its diverse curricula, because each stream of knowledge has a role to play in society and nation-building "The President stated. He went on to say that the NEP may help India harness and reap the demographic dividend.
