The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has officially announced a new date for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2024. Originally slated for March 3, 2024, the exam will now take place on July 7, 2024, as confirmed in the Board's recent announcement. This adjustment comes after the Board had initially set the exam for March 3, 2024, as per their earlier schedule. However, in light of new developments superseding the previous notice from November 9, 2023, and following the receipt of a letter from the National Medical Commission dated January 3, 2024, the NEET-PG 2024 exam's date has been rescheduled. To determine eligibility for the exam this year, the cut-off date is August 15. The official notice from NBEMS highlighted the revised exam date and stated, "The NEET-PG 2024 shall now be conducted on July 7, 2024." Reports in the media suggest that this year will not see the administration of the National Exit Test (NExT). The recently introduced "Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023," which replaced the 2018 Postgraduate Medical Education (Amendment) Regulations, clarify that the ongoing NEET-PG examination will persist until the proposed NExT for PG admissions becomes operational. NEET-PG, serving as an eligibility-cum-ranking examination, remains the primary gateway for admission to various MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses under the National Medical Commission Act, 2019.
