HARYANA: In the newly formed Haryana government, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has retained several key portfolios, including Home, Finance, and Excise and Taxation. He has also taken charge of Town & Country Planning and Urban Estates, Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture, Administration of Justice, General Administration, Criminal Investigation (C.I.D), Personnel & Training, and Law and Legislative departments. Senior legislator Anil Vij, a seven-time MLA, has been given the Energy, Transport, and Labour portfolios. In the previous government, he served as the Home and Health & Family Welfare Minister. First-time woman legislator Shruti Choudhry will oversee Women and Child Development as well as Irrigation and Water Resources. Another first-time minister, Arti Singh Rao, has been assigned Health and Medical Education, Research, and Ayush. Rao Narbir Singh has been entrusted with Industries and Commerce, Environment, Forests, and Wildlife, while Mahipal Dhanda will manage the School and Higher Education departments. Vipul Goel will handle the Revenue and Disaster Management, Urban Local Bodies, and Civil Aviation departments. Meanwhile, Arvind Sharma has been given the Jails and Cooperation portfolios, and Shyam Singh Rana will take charge of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Ranbir Gangwa will oversee Public Health Engineering, while Krishan Kumar Bedi will manage Social Justice, Empowerment, and the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes. Krishan Lal Panwar has been allotted the Development and Panchayats, and Mines and Geology departments. Minister of State Rajesh Nagar (Independent Charge) will be responsible for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs. Another Minister of State, Gaurav Gautam (Independent Charge), will handle Youth Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, and Sports. On Sunday, Chief Minister Saini reviewed ongoing development projects during a meeting with officials from Urban Local Bodies and the Development and Panchayats departments. He emphasized public welfare, directing the launch of 'Samadhan shivirs' in municipal bodies starting from October 22. These sessions will allow officers to be available from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to address public grievances. Saini also announced that he would personally review development projects during a meeting with Municipal Corporation Commissioners on October 24 in Chandigarh. Saini, along with his 13 Cabinet members, took the oath of office on October 17, pledging to serve Haryana’s 2.8 crore people with dedication. The BJP formed the government for a third consecutive term after securing an absolute majority, overcoming a decade-long anti-incumbency. Saini, 54, a non-Jat leader from the OBC category, took office as Chief Minister for the second time in a ceremony attended by prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
