The video shows Starmer leaving The Raven pub while another patron shouts and is restrained by security. Posts on X and Facebook from August 13 have inaccurately labeled this incident as a recent protest against Starmer’s treatment of radical Muslims and alleged favoritism over UK citizens.
In reality, the event took place on April 19, 2021, when Starmer was the opposition leader. At that time, he was criticized by the pub landlord for not adequately challenging the Conservative government’s COVID-19 lockdown policies. Starmer only became Prime Minister on July 5, 2024.
A spokesperson for Starmer has not commented directly on these social media claims but referred to a community note on X, which includes a link to an article clarifying the context of the 2021 incident.
