Bhopal: On Tuesday Police arrested Karan Morwal, the absconding son of Murli Morwal, a Congress MLA in Ujjain district, in connection with the rape of a woman leader in Madhya Pradesh. The accused of raping a woman leader under the pretext of marriage had been absconding for six and a half months and a reward of Rs 25,000 was announced for his arrest. Jyoti Sharma, in-charge of the local mahila police station, said that on the information of the informer, Karan Morwal was caught by a joint team of women police and crime prevention branch near Maksi, about 80 km from Indore, when he was travelling somewhere by car. She said police also found a man named Rahul Rathore along with Karan in the car and now rathore's role in the absconding of Murli Morwal's son is being investigated. Sharma said karan used to hide for a few days at different places and change his whereabouts. Karan has undergone a medical test after his arrest and is being questioned. The woman police station in-charge said Karan will be produced in local court and requested to be send him to police custody to find out where he hid during the absconding and who helped him. Officials said a rape case was registered against Karan at the Mahila Police Station in Indore on April 2. The woman leader registered the case alleged that the 30-year-old son of MLA cheated and raped her under the pretext of marriage.
