Indore: A mother sacrificed her life to save her son. Seeing her 6-year-old son drowning in a raw well, the mother also jumped into it. However, she could not save her son and lost her life. The incident, which took place on Mother's Day in Village Bamori under the Amarwada police station area of Chhindwara district, has left the villagers in a state of shock. On Sunday evening, Vijay Kumari Tekam, a resident of Bamori, had gone to bathe in the well built in the farm of her tau Suresh Tekam along with her 6-year-old son Akash Tekam. While bathing, Akash went into deep water and started drowning. During this time, Akash called out to his mother. Hearing her son's voice, the mother jumped into the well to save her son. The mother tried to save her son, but she could not succeed and both of them died of drowning. Raghunath Tekam, the husband of the deceased Vijay Kumari, had gone to the Ladli Laxmi yojana programme organized in the neighbouring village of Maholi along with his daughter Asma. On returning, the mother-son duo was not in the house, so he started a search. On reaching near the raw well, seeing the body of his wife in the water, the ground slipped under his feet. Raghunath Tekam immediately informed the villagers and the police about this. Acting on a tip-off, Amarwada police rushed to the spot and the body of the deceased Vijay Kumari was fished out. After this, the search for the innocent was started. Police pulled out the body of the child after a lot of struggle.
