Congress Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to arrive in Wayanad on Wednesday to officially submit his candidacy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Having secured a significant victory in the 2019 Parliament polls with an overwhelming margin of over four lakh votes, Rahul Gandhi aims to cement his position in the constituency. His arrival will be marked by a roadshow starting from Muppainad village, where he will land via helicopter, and proceeding towards Kalpetta. The event is expected to commence at 11 am and will witness the presence of notable figures including his sister Priyanka Gandhi, AICC general secretaries K C Venugopal and Deepa Das, NSUI's Kanhaiya Kumar, as well as V D Satheesan and M M Hassan. The procession will culminate near the Civil Station around noon, followed by the submission of nomination papers to the District Collector. In the previous Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, Rahul Gandhi emerged victorious by securing 7,06,367 votes out of a total of 10,92,197. His closest contender, CPI's P P Suneer, trailed significantly with 2,74,597 votes. This year, voting in Kerala for the Lok Sabha polls is slated for April 26th, marking a crucial moment in the political landscape of the state.
